This panel discussion featuring Dr. Hiromi Lorraine Sakata, Professor Emirata, UCLA Department of Ethnomusicology, Fairouz Nishanova, Director of the Aga Khan Music Initiative and Afghan Musicians Homayun Sakhi and Salar Nader will look at the recent history of music in Afghanistan and the current efforts inside and outside of the country to bring music back to its people.

Buena Vista Social Club

This film, directed by Wim Wenders, portrays the legendary Buena Vista Social Club in their lives back in Cuba, in reunion in the recording studio, and in their Carnegie Hall performance.

Tiempo Libre

As seen on The Tonight Show and Dancing with the Stars, the three time Grammy-nominated Cuban music group Tiempo Libre has earned international acclaim for its joyful performances of timba – a sophisticated, dance-inducing mix of Latin jazz and the rhythms of Cuban son. From the Hollywood Bowl to Jazz at Lincoln Center there hasn't been a Tiempo Libre concert yet where people haven't gotten up to dance to the group's infectious music. 

Berlin Nights/Paris Days: The Art of Chanson - Ute Lemper with Vogler Quartet and Stefan Malzew
