The Chan Centre's venues are available for rent throughout the year. All booking requests are coordinated by the Chan Centre's programming staff, on a first-come, first-served basis.
Rental Rates for Chan Centre venues are based on pre-defined license periods and include a variety of services as well as a complement of front-of-house and technical staff. Below you will find our most popular rates for each of the venues in the Chan Centre, as well as some of the frequently asked questions regarding general fees.

Chan Shun Concert Hall
The shape of the acoustically superb concert hall takes its inspiration from the cello. Its blond maple curved walls, which resemble to contours of the musical instrument, assist in providing an even distribution of sound.

Telus Studio Theatre
Designed as an experimental "black box," the Telus Studio Theatre seating is arranged on three levels of 12 towers placed in a horseshoe shape.

This multi-media presentation cinema has the capacity to screen a variety of film formats and audio-visual materials. Furnished with cushioned seats with collapsing desk trays, the space is well suited for screenings, lectures and conference workshops.

Great Performers Lounge
With its picture-postcard views and ample floor space, the Great Performers Lounge is a natural spot for meetings and receptions.

SOCAN
SOCAN fees are government regulated and are subject to change without notice. For more information please visit SOCAN on the web.
The Chan Centre reports all musical performances, and/or concerts (utilizing live or recorded music) to SOCAN. Licencees are responsible for all SOCAN fees.
The Chan Centre also reports all events such as graduations, assemblies, lectures, weddings, receptions, fashion shows, etc. where music (live or recorded) is used as an accessory to the event. For these events a flat fee plus HST is charged and remitted to SOCAN on behalf of the licensee.
Additional Equipment
If additional equipment or supplies are required, licensee may, in consultation with a Co-Managing Director (or designate), arrange to have this equipment or supplies provided through an appropriate rental agency.
If licensee chooses to have the Chan Centre arrange for the rental or purchase of additional equipment and/or supplies on their behalf, there will be a 15% administration fee added to the charges.
Recordings and Broadcast
A fee of $500 for audio recordings and $1250 for video recordings or $1500 for both applies for all commercial recordings of events.
No recording fee applies to archival recordings, however extra technical costs may apply. Audio recordings are considered archival when a mono CD is recorded off the Chan Centre's sound board by a Chan Centre Technician. Video recordings are considered archival when only one fixed camera is used. Any recording made using additional equipment or any other type of equipment is considered commercial and fees will apply.
