Bryn the Byg.

Voice and presence, that is. Hear the much loved “voice in a billion.”

Welsh bass-baritone Bryn Terfel rose to prominence when he won the Lieder Prize in the 1989 Singer of the World Competition. Since then he has become one of the world’s most recognized performers, picking up loads of other honours including a CBE for services to opera and the Queen’s Medal for Music.

He’s sung Mozart and Wagner, Puccini and Stravinsky, Verdi and Britten in the world’s greatest opera houses, and of course, he’s a renowned recitalist who performs regularly with Malcolm Martineau. He’s equally at home with Schumann lieder as he is with traditional folk songs and Rogers and Hammerstein.

The BBC praises his “combination of a great voice, immaculate diction, commanding stage presence and flair for acting.”  The Times simply calls Bryn Terfel: “A voice in a billion”.

Welcome back to Vancouver, Bryn!

Please note that Bryn Terfel’s performance begins at 7.30pm.

This event is part of the celebration of UBC's 100th Anniversary.
