The outlook wasn't brilliant for the Mudville Nine that day;

The score stood four to two, with but one inning more to play…

With mighty Casey coming up to bat, what could possibly go wrong? Rob Kapilow presents Play Ball, his own version of Ernest Thayer’s well-loved poem Casey at the Bat, first published in The San Francisco Examiner 110 years ago.

This entertaining and engaging ballpark parable tells the ageless story of overconfident Casey who falls victim to his over inflated ego.

Choreographed by Daniel Pelzig, Play Ball is a masterpiece of music, comedy, audience participation, and good ol’ fashioned baseball fun.

“In Play Ball, Family Musik has a hit—a home run, in fact... Kapilow's setting of Ernest L. Thayer's 1888 text mingles familiar ballpark melodies with a touch of Chopin's Funeral March and some splendid mock-Handelian flourishes. The music is clever.”  Boston Globe
