"Thank God for Noche Flamenca" so starts Judy Gelman Myers review of the company in NY for CityArts :http://bit.ly/yk4k0L on Jan. 12th, 2012

Looking forward to Soledad Barrio & Noche Flamenca at the Chan Centre Jan 21. Barrio is one of world's best dancers - in any genre. on Jan. 11, 2012.

I'll go out on a limb and say Soledad Barrio of Noche Flamenca might be the most thrilling dancer I've seen. Just saying. on Jan. 3, 2012.

SOLD OUT - Soledad Barrio and Noche Flamenca

Sat., January 21, 2012 at 8:00 pm
Chan Shun Concert Hall
Chan Centre Presents
Co-presented with PuSh International Performing Arts Festival

This show is now SOLD OUT!

"Noche Flamenca star Soledad Barrio dances as if she's channeling 500 years of pain, despair, and passion...the small, muscular dancer moves with an introspective quality that is deeply personal, almost private, yet somehow universal. And it seems to unfurl totally in the moment, with an intensity and focus that is riveting." The Boston Globe

Spain's most respected flamenco company has been burning up stages around the world with its raw, deeply emotional performances of virtuosic guitar, cathartic song and spectacular dance, thrilling both audiences and critics in the process.

Directed by Martín Santangelo, Bessie Award-winning premier dancer Soledad Barrio has been hailed as "a gift from heaven to flamenco on earth" (El Diario). Following a sold-out Cultural Olympiad performance, here's another chance to see why the Boston Globe described their soul-stirring artistry as "flamenco in its pure essence."

He will speak on the roots of flamenco and the historical and political aspects of the society which created the art form, including how flamenco evolved under conditions of oppression.
